Jodok Vuille

cellist/pianist/arranger

Known for:   Jodok Vuille, also known online as Jodok Cello, is a Swiss cellist, pianist, arranger, and social-media music personality known for his unique style of performing classical and contemporary music barefoot in natural outdoor locations. Born in the late 1980s—with most sources placing his birth on May 4, 1988 in the Emmental region of Switzerland—Vuille grew up on an organic farm surrounded by nature, which later became a defining part of his artistic identity. He began playing the cello at a very young age, developing a deep connection with music and the natural world early in life. His parents encouraged classical music in the household, exposing him to Bach, Haydn, and other composers whose work shaped his foundation. By age 6 or 7, he was already practicing regularly, showing strong musical promise. Vuille later studied professionally at the Hochschule für Musik Luzern (Lucerne University of Music), where he completed a Bachelor’s degree under Prof. Peter Leisegang and went on to earn two Master’s degrees—one in performance and one in pedagogy. During his time in school, around 2006/07, he even built his own cello, a unique personal project he continues to use occasionally. Before gaining fame online, Jodok worked as a music and sports teacher in Hergiswil, Switzerland. His passion for sharing music with others has always been central to his career. His rise to international visibility began when he started posting videos of himself playing cello outdoors—often barefoot—set against breathtaking mountains, forests, lakes, and fields. His natural aesthetic, combined with expressive and emotional performances, quickly resonated with audiences around the world. A major turning point came when actor Pierce Brosnan shared one of his videos, causing his social media following to surge. Since then, Vuille has accumulated millions of followers across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, making him one of the most recognized classical-fusion musicians on digital platforms. His musical style blends traditional classical pieces with modern pop and cinematic music, creating a sound that appeals to both younger and older audiences.
